Our Story

The idea of Woodland Acre Flowers was in the making for years, but we officially established our backyard flower farm as a business in May 2020. Our names are Megan and Codi Berkenstock— we always dreamed of starting our own business one day, and love spending time outdoors together. My passion for art and gardening led me to flower farming and floral design, opening a door of endless opportunities to share the beauty of nature with others.

With the encouragement and support of our families, friends, and our local community, we were able to get started and began digging up our yard, starting hundreds of seeds and making plans for our first season. We are not certified organic but we follow sustainable practices and do not use pesticides or chemicals on our farm. We do not own a tractor or any large equipment so the majority of our farming is done using hand tools and a broad fork, so we are considered a low-till farming operation. We are always learning and hope to move towards no-till in the near future.

We grow our flowers on about 1/4 acre of our private property in Springfield Township. Since the start of our business, we have nearly tripled our growing space, built a hoop house for extending our growing season, added a seasonal self-serve Flower Cart, and expanded our wedding & event services. We are grateful to do what we love and look forward to many years of sharing our passion for flowers with our community, who have made this all possible.
